Fiji - Nacula Island: kayaking to the The Blue Lagoon Resort & tea with Salome

Dawn on Nacula island

We find out that Safe Landing, the resort closest to Nabua Lodge, has two kayaks for rent, so we make our way over there with the intention of paddling part way around the island to the Blue Lagoon Resort's beautiful beach. The water is a transluscent blue... We paddle hard for about half an hour and reach the resort.

We walk down the beach and chat to a Canadian lady who's just had a great snorkel and is thrilled that her and her husband are moving from Oarsman's Lodge next door to Blue Lagoon tonight. The Blue Lagoon Resort definitely looks lovely - lots of wooden deckchairs with dark blue cushions and thatched sun shelters. They have a whole array of activities, a huge menu and even serve
cappuccino! It's out of our price range though... So we just enjoy a nice Fiji Bitter stubby (small beer) and head back.

After our afternoon nap we decide to visit the Tea House, a small hut in between Nabua Lodge
and Safe Landing. Mike and I share a slice of lemon sponge cake with a drizzle of chocolate
and a delicious hot cup of tea - best cup of tea in a long time actually!

The Tea House

Salome

The cake lady is Salome - incredibly the slimmest Fijian we've met so far! We leave satified and decide we should definitely return tomorrow :)
