It's Friday and we're heading to Nabua Lodge on Nacula Island (F$150 for two, for a bure/hut
with commununal showers incl. all meals), located toward the end of the Yasawa chain of islands. I've read that the further north you go, the more beautiful and white the beaches are so that's where we're heading. It's will be nice to stay in one place for 6 days for a change.
It's actually a sunny morning when we board the South Seas fast ferry which will take 4.5 hrs to Nacula Island. We also get to see most of the island on the way North as they drop off passengers in both the Mamanuca and Yasawa chain of islands (F$ TBC pp). There are loads on young backpackers onboard and and we meet many round the world travellers throughout our journey.
The islands all look beautiful, lots of white sand and turquoise seas.
When we finally arrive a Nacula, we are picked up at the ferry by a smaller boat from the resort and head over to the resort. It's not quite what we expected as the beach isn't the most beautiful dreamy beach described in the Lonely Planet... turns out that one is around the corner, in front of the Blue Lagoon Resort... Oh well, well have to figure out how to get there at some point!
We're greeted by the Nabua Lodge staff by multiple "Bula" and settle in.
We bought some bug spray in Nadi, so make sure to spray our bure to avoid the mosquitoes later... Electricity is only available betwee 6:30 and 10:30pm so the very nice fan can't actually be used whilst we sleep unless we go to bed soon after dinner...which we end up often doing, since the Club Med style evening activities led by an extremely energetic Sarah mean that we usually slip away for some reading most nights.
